When we were first considering a move to Pagosa Springs, one of the most important things to me as a ceramic artist was to find a place to continue my work in clay. I met Susan Martin-Serra, owner of Belvedere Arts when I visited her studio and gallery. I was impressed with how well-equipped the studio was. I had it all… wheels, space to handbuild, lots of glazes and kilns. I really appreciate how well organized and clean the space is! One can come in and work independently, as well as take classes. Susan also employs a studio assistant, Brianna, who is most knowledgeable and helpful. In the six months that I have been working at Belvedere, Susan has improved the space, expanding the studio work areas. There are also lots of opportunities to grow as an artist, as she has workshops to learn new skills in clay as well as other mediums. Belvedere provides a welcoming place to learn something new and improve my skills and I feel very fortunate that it is here in Pagosa Springs. I also love that it is a gallery, where one can purchase pottery, jewelry, glass and other art forms.
